only because slightly more intelligent people (100-115 iq) are more likely to be athiests. then from 115 to 130 or so there's still a lot of athiests. Truly intelligent people like myself tend to be religious(137) as well as sub 90 iqs.

My IQ was tested last month: 130. I usually feel stupid, so either 130 isn't smart or most people are moronic subhuman pigs. I feel like I barely qualify as a human being, so that's frightening. Maybe you only become a real person 120+ haha

Faith is belief in something you can't prove and atheism is the disbelief in something you can't disprove. I consider the whole question "above my pay grade", although I hate atheists and like Christian breeders. Maybe a genius will know?

Because IQ is a pseudoscience only a couple of tiers above measuring skulls with a compass.
1 out of 10 people that do an IQ test will give them a score way higher or much lower than thei're actual IQ.

I refuse to believe people in western countries have an average IQ of 95-105 when millions keep voting the way they do, every single time. Most people are braindead morons, regardless of age, gender and race, end of.

my understanding is that IQ is rigorous enough to capture a factor of general intelligence "g" that correlates with life outcomes.

at 130 IQ I'm smart enough to know that I'm not a genius. I'm aware of the "sheep brain" automatic dim picture of reality most people live with, because I can operate at that level. I can sense "beyond" it though, to a clearer, colder, harsher world most people can't see, if that makes sense. I'm like honors student smart, I can dip into the pig collective conscious to get along but I'm aware of more powers and forces under the hood

It’s really unsurprising you don’t even know how iq tests even work. Every single time someone with your attitude comes along it’s the same thing. Iq tests are incredibly predictive of all kinds of things, as far as tests go they are the gold standard. Not perfect, but they are quite the feat.

the more educated your become, the more difficult it is to trust something that for all intents and purposes doesn't have anything to back it up with, sure it could be right since there isn't any way to prove its false, but at the same time there also isn't anything to prove it right, not helped by the fact that there are so many different religions with even said religions having multiple variations just makes it even more difficult for an educated person to fully commit to, its the equivalent of an absolute stranger stating you are part of a once in a lifetime opportunity so long as you choose a specific category and a specific subset of that category and follow its guidelines

The medial frontal cortex regulates fear and the study design was based around seeing how people’s belief changes when you shut down their fear response, in this case of death specifically.

What religion would an intelligent person even believe in though?

Lets be honest all the religions we have are now out of date, all the abrahamic religions reflect a time when most people were farmers and were ruled by an emperor or lord, Christianity at least has christ whose teaching of love and pacifism are teachings which are still relevant but even still two thirds of his teachings are trust in god which is the problem. It is now irrevocably evident that there is no god. Worse however is that god is irrelevant, all the problems man face now are man made, we are no longer afraid of thunder but rather nuclear bombs.

I think intelligent people could be religious but there would just have to be a religion which makes sense of the ills of today

Transhumanisn is a logical conclusion of the tenets of the holy Catholic faith. Where Catholic see "holy Trinity", transhumanists see one Universe being particles, waves and laws of nature, where Catholics see immortality, transhumanists see quantum immortality, where Catholics see healing, transhumanists see nanomachines, where Catholics see resurrection, transhumanists see upload of consciousness to a Singilarity. Catholicism and transhumanism are one and the same. Further reading:

Nonsense. The parallels between Christianity and Transhumanism are too rudimentary to have any significance. They're coincidental. Even if it were true, Transhumanism would be stripped of all religious aesthetics as a product of scientific materialism/rationalism/empiricism, with it being a system of what can be measured and seen in human terms. Christianity doesn't fit this, it's largely about self-hating, living in fear of God, and never aspiring to be anything more than a slave to him. Transhumanism is all about ascending from nature to become some grotesque mechanical divinity.

It stands to reason that if God made everything then he must somehow transcend the thing he made. How else would he exist without something being around to make him? God would have to operate on something unknown to be capable of emerging from nothingness.

Believe it or not the discussion section of that meta-study gave some suggestions that they included in the abstract, they are as follows.

    >Three possible interpretations were discussed. First, intelligent people are less likely to conform and, thus, are more likely to resist religious dogma. Second, intelligent people tend to adopt an analytic (as opposed to intuitive) thinking style, which has been shown to undermine religious beliefs. Third, several functions of religiosity, including compensatory control, self-regulation, self-enhancement, and secure attachment, are also conferred by intelligence. Intelligent people may therefore have less need for religious beliefs and practices.

All religion is nothing more than an elaborate cope when faced with the quiet indifference of the world. Everything is an insanely complexx yet infinitely simple yawning abyss of material stuff that interacts with itself all the time forever, and nothin more need be said about the matter. But humans cannot accept this and dream up elaborate troony coping mechanisms for their self imposed predicament.

yes but there is no reason to be afraid or panicked. human beings scream at ghosts, imaginary concepts they invent in their minds and then impose upon themselves. the world is very peaceful and very simple, but people complicate it for literally no reason, other than perhaps their human brains being problem solving tools, and without a real tangible "problem" to solve, it creates some lest it atrophies

You cannot calculate probability of life arising from matter when we have absolutely no idea how much matter exists, we still don’t know how many planets exist even in the observable universe, he certainly didn’t back then.

The probability calculation is completely pulled from his ass, and again he did not know that amino acids, organic compounds of all kinds and even proteins are naturally occurring. This has just been discovered in recent decades.

I could also say that any analysis of an advanced society is statistically impossible, because another advanced society might exist somewhere else in the universe. You're literally making an argument from ignorance, and it won't work.
Anyway, the amount of amino acids on rocks aren't sufficient for the emergence of life. We already know this. You don't simply need amino acids and organic compounds to create life, you need specific acids and in the correct amounts, which are not known to merely occur naturally. Or at least, there is no evidence to suggest that this is the case. That I am aware of, but prove me wrong if you can.

well first, how does one define 'smart'? who defined it? smart people? what is smart? intelligent? wise? both? wise > smart, at least until the smart become wise

to answer your question though, its because they are inherently separate and competing skillsets. But they do not have to be. Plato (in the Republic) described the two as the visible and the intellectual (which makes things confusing regarding your question. But, essentially, its the separate ways for which we obtain understanding. The visible, aka our five senses; the intellectual, the way in which we attempt to make sense of the visible and what it does and does not tell us about something
    >You have to imagine, then, that there are two ruling powers, and that one of them is set over the intellectual world, the other over the visible.
he believed that the intellectual are the things that must be learned via philosophizing and dialectics and that the ascertainment of the purest form of Good is contingent on a systemization of established principles, like how we learn math; established concepts like pi, being the product of a continuity of previous peoples questions asked, pursued, and answered

the problem, however, is that God is something you cannot simplify or quantify to someone else using words. the idea of God, and the conceptualization can be taught, but to actually know God, requires ones own personal experience to understand. And the result of which, doesn't make sense. Not to someone who hasn't been in his presence.

God defies the intellectual knowledge, and has capabilities beyond what we think to be impossible (i.e. the understood laws of the universe).
And God defies the visible (five senses) by targeting a sixth sense. Something which cannot be comprehended without experience. It's like trying to impart the experience of an acid trip you had to a mormon. Explanation is insufficient, it must be experienced to comprehend. think Plato's cave allegory, never having turned your head

which begs the question, if the 'smart' people are people who have never turned their head, are they even smart? or is it the ones who managed to escape from the cave?

Intelligence is the ability to figure things out.

What the study showed is that people who still believe in ancient gods and worship them because they think they are real in the modern day tend to be less intelligent than people who don’t do that.

The former group is not as good at problem solving and figuring out how things work. They also tend to use intuitive thinking instead of analytical thinking when analytical thinking is necessary.

Intelligence assessments gauge a persons ability to figure out problems and answer questions.

So hypothetically anon, in a world where there is no god, it would make a lot of sense that the less intelligent people have not figured that out and still think gods from the Iron Age created everything

direct exposure to God, a presence of the holy spirit, the activation of a sixth sense, turning your head and Seeing the world for the first time, the blinding of the Light. any of them, however you wish to characterize it. it being something for which is, in essence, knowing something you cannot possibly 'know' without experience. and even then, you, just like someone who left the cave and returned to your circumstance, cannot merely express. you can spend all your life trying to make the others know now what you know, but they cant, not without their own experience. their perception is that of which the shadows on the wall dance, bound to the constructs of their environment. they can conceptualize, even imagine, think to grasp, but they do not know what they cannot know, until their own experience.

The shackles where I sat began to rust, and over time, began to wither to dust. Then, one day, they slipped off. When I turned my head, I saw the Light, only for a moment, before I began to squint. Even then, I could not process it. I struggled to see what was before me, but I was curious, and walked towards it. In that moment, I made a seemingly insignificant decision: Ichose to embrace it, rather than return to my more familiar environment, for which made sense. I thought I understood, that I knew of light. The lumination on the wall of the cave cast by a flickering flame, I had had a concept for it. But I did not. I ascended out of the cave and walked for the first time. I began to explore the world, and witnessed marvelous things, like the water and the trees. The light I knew, only helped with my sight. The Light I saw, nourishing every living thing, its warmth radiating. And then came the epiphany: every living thing responded to its touch. It was as if they were dancing to its music. In that moment, something suddenly came over me. I did not will it, but something instinctively came upon me, as if it possessed me. I pressed both hands upon my face, then rolled back my eyes. I was in a state of pure bliss, dancing to its music. And in the next moment, I seperated from it. If it was one second, or one day, I could not tell you, but cast upon me were those still in the cave, I had to show them. But when I returned, they knew not. I was ridiculed and mocked, casually dismissed. For they said: "that's not Light, light is for eyesight."

It’s funny because I didn’t even ask you to describe the experience, I just asked you what the context and setting was, and you are too embarrassed to say. You will continue to dodge and not answer.

You are continuing to not say what you were doing and what type of place you were when you had this experience.

You will continue to not answer because it reveals you as not wise or intelligent.

Anon I know, I’m here to demonstrate that you won’t give your answer because you know it’s dumb.

That’s great anon, now what type of place were you in and what were you doing when you had this experience?

It was a place identical to this. What was I doing? Trying to make sense of it. We all had legs, but could not use them? We were restricted, confined and forced to sit? Then what was their purpose? Why would I have them, if not to use them? And why would I think to think they were in my possession, that I had them for a reason? For one day the man sitting next to meet stood up.

Atheists are better at IQ tests. That doesn't mean they're smarter.

Religcucks are the ultimate NPC. Religion is an evolutionary adaptation to keep the less intelligent in line.

Muslims don't worship the building in your pic, you think they do because you're the type of moron who would actually worship it and you think everyone else is like you.

It's not that smart people are less religious, it's just that dumb people are the ones who shape mainstream religion.
