It's quite obvious that this isn't the historical case. Which institute decided that it is okay for Christians to drop kosher rules, to not circumsize anymore and to do away with the Mosaic laws?
Jesus himself said ''I come not to abrogate the covenant but to fulfil it''.

Because apparently pork just magically stopped being an unclean animal.
Their master Paul said it’s okay
So was God wrong when he called it an unclean animal? Did he do something to pig's DNA to suddenly make it a clean animal to eat?
Just because it's unclean doesn't mean Christianity cannot abolish mosaic law. I think the apostles had more knowledge of the gospel than you, Mohammed.
Why would you want to eat an unclean animal?
Unclean is only mosaic. To a gentile even at the time of Moses it would have made no difference. And Christianity has as it's main message that it's a religion for gentiles because the israelites rejected it. There you got it.
>unclean doesnt actually mean unclean.
Well yes of course. But why would you not eat it? What reason is there to not eat it? Think about it. If the law is not in effect anymore, it won't make you unclean. So if you believe in Christianity, it is not an issue anymore. Only if you believe Christ never said he is God that you come to the conclusion that eating a formerly mosaically defined unclean animal is sinful or wrong.
Something being clean or unclean has nothing to do with "laws".
It does in Christianity.
Christianity is based upon, as the name says, Christ and Chrism. Christ is, as the bible itself says, come to fulfill the law. The church was founded, again quoting the bible, by Christ. The church says eating unclean animals is no longer an issue. Therefore, this is all according to the bible. If you're Muslims why do you say i should read the bible though. You don't believe it's true.
A thing's intrinsic nature determines whether it's clean or not. God pointed this out for us.
I didn't say it's not unclean. I said it's not an issue whether to eat it or not.
Well if God said something is unclean and bad for you. Why are you judging people for obeying this?
He didn't say it's bad for you though. Not to my knowledge, not in the bible nor in the Quran.
Ok. Well it was prohibited to follow mosaic law at a later council. That in fact, settles it for any Catholic.
>bro if you believe in jesus. stop reading the bible, looking for commandments, and trying to please him. just live your life and do whatever you want.
>Unclean is only mosaic. To a gentile even at the time of Moses it would have made no difference.
>Genesis 7:2 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this generation. 2You shall take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, a male and his female; and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and his female; 3also of the birds of the sky, seven pairs, male and female, to keep their offspring alive on the face of all the earth.
Seems pretty clear not only in the language but in the intent: they take 7 pairs of each animal that they are allowed to eat and sacrifice, both the clean cattle and the birds, and 2 of each animal they are not. And so he does:
>Genesis 8:20Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took some of every kind of clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
The church dogmatically defined eating unclean animals is no longer sinful after the promulgation of the gospel. Any christian who doesn't go by church law but by pre-christian law is an apostate from the christian faith and doesn't believe in Jesus as Christianity or catholicism teaches. If you want to argue logically, the logical argument doesn't exist. That is rejected by saint Paul. The christian faith cannot be logically reasoned for or against. Either you have it, or you don't. It's one's own choice.
>The church said it, I believe it, that settles it
At least TRY to pretend you're not a bunch of heretics.
>Any christian who doesn't go by church law but by pre-christian law
Oriental Christianity kept the ban against eating pork (up to the present day in some Churches), and even the early Church in the West kept the prohibitions regarding the consumption of blood and improperly slaughtered animals centuries after the Council of Jerusalem
>Oriental Christianity kept the ban against eating pork
When? Armenians don't have anything against eating pork.
Most Syriacs and Ethiopians (+ Copts? unclear) at least are clear judaizers. Maronites also have the Council of Jerusalem version of the prohibition (no blood etc) though no religious ban on pork, they generally don't eat it for cultural reasons anyway. Armenians have been thoroughly Greekified and later Russified.
>Copts? unclear
Copts practice circumcision but they do eat pork AFAIK.
Again, faith is not a matter of discussion for someone who knows the faith well enough. I have nothing to say on this insult. Call me a heretic or not. It doesn't matter to me.
Why would you have sex with your cousins? Why would you have an unclean gene pool?
>Rise it cleaner like other animals
>eat it
>So was God wrong when he called it an unclean animal?
Yes, God was wrong, but he thought he corrected his mistake.
Well actually the Christians explain it this way that God was preparing one nation to receive his son and put that nation (Jews) through extreme training, almost genetic engineering. But when Christ fulfilled his mission, all this strictness of the Law of Moses became unnecessary, but the israelites, out of pride, continue to consider themselves the chosen people of God, but this is old information, since the chosen ones of God are now all Christians.
Strong hellenistic influence on Christianity. Greeks loved pork.
Because Christianity is in essence Judaism for gentiles, extending the embrace of God to all humanity, not just the chosen people. We see this in the parable of the crumbs.
Matthew 15:21-28
King James Version
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
So, pork is bad because... some guy had the opinion that it was bad and put that on writing?
Pork taboo of the near east could go back to the Neolithic. There is probably domestication in ppna but it declines in Israel by ppnb.
It was materially bad in that environment at that time period. Israel is on the edge of the natural habitat of wild hogs, they did not forage in forests and add calories to the village economy as they did further north. It was wasteful to keep pigs, to encourage the peasants to feed their waste food to ruminants and discourage the wealthy from buying pigs from the peasants they prohibited pork.
However it has nothing to do with spirituality or god, over time this prohibition gained a kind of sacred idol value to it.
Why shouldn´t they eat pork? Someone with a limited knowledge of nutrition and health said so some millennia ago, but know we know better, and those prohibitions are moronic against all evidence.
continued..
33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
As you can see, immediately after this woman demonstrated her faith despite being Canaan, Jesus began healing the lame, blind, dumb and maimed and fed loaves and fishes to the multitudes who followed him 3 days then glorified the God of Israel.
They figured out how to cook it properly, maybe?
you can even eat raw pork, no problem
The people there before the israelites ate pork judging by the bones found in middens
Pigs eat their own feces, children, and are swingers.
>Pigs eat their own feces
You think chickens don't?
>17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
>18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
>19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Another important part of this chapter. Eating pork is irrelevant, what matters is whether you do good or evil.
The apostles decided that gentiles do not have to abide by mosaic law and the Catholic church which is the only true church later codified that no one is allowed to follow israeli law after the promulgation of the gospel whatever he may do because it is mortally sinful.
because that would require effort and changing your life.
A significant portion of the words of Christ and Paul are dedicated to explaining why so much of what was written in the OT were not eternal laws, but merely severe measures used to keep the devil-worshipping Israelites in line. No, they are not the chosen people anymore, you can keep your foreskin, and eat whatever you want.
The real reason European Christians didn't give up pork was because it was too hard. All that "old law being superseded" shit was just a cover story cope. It ultimately came down to laziness and practicality.
can anyone explain how it's 'unclean' or do you just think that your god put some kind of voodoo on it when he made it?
Because they wallow in their own shit and are riddled with parasites
Got it, so israelites and Muslims can't figure out basic food hygiene, storage, or cooking. Thanks for explaining that. It's weird though, I can buy Muslims being that dumb but I thought israelites prided themselves on academic and business achievement?
That was their hygiene. Avoid eating animals that are dirty or known to cause a lot of illnesses. Muslims are just dumb, they pretended to be clean but spread medina worm around the world because they would wash their feet in the same fountains before going to mosque
I can understand that as a requirement when you're living in the desert with 5th century BC medicine and utilities - but it's been about two and a half thousand years since then, and things have come a long way in that time.
Traditions are hard to break and at this point is part of the whole our messiah hasn't come yet thing.
??? the Media worm comes comes Guinea you mupet
>Nooo you can’t just cook meat in milk you just can’t OK.
>You can eat the bugs like locusts but not shellfish, for reasons.
>You can’t eat pigs because they don’t chew their cud, ok.
>Umm you can’t eat pigs because they don’t chew their cud.
Why do you repeat your last point?
Jesus and the Apostolic Council of Jerusalem.
>the commies are trying to take away my heckin bacon. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! we cant let thanos and the empire win.
Paraphrasing the bible when asked about food that should or shouldn't be eaten .
"What goes into the mouth isn't as important as what comes out of it"
Imagine your all powerful religion not being able to
> Stop people eating pigs
> Change the names of months and days
> Stop Islam taking nearly all the territory of its flagship state
Christianity is absolute weaksauce. It's followers really don't give a frick, and just follow ancient routines which the Sumerians mostly set.
>Stop people eating pigs
Acts 10 lifted the prohibition of eating unclean animals
>Change the names of months and days
Not really a big deal
>Stop Islam taking nearly all the territory of its flagship state
Christianity is for people, not states
If names don't matter, why bother naming churches and children after saints? Names of the months and days are a huge part of your identity; it's a marker of time itself, lol. The faith must be incredibly weak, if many countries can't be bothered to get the basics right.
If Christianity truly was for the people, and not states, then any one organisation claiming to speak "the true word of God" for you should be considered heresy and the work of Satan.
You seem very hung up on the names of days and months
It's not like you're worshipping Thor every time you say Thursday. It's just a word at the end of the day
Being named after references to time itself is one of the highest honours possible. A truly pure religion with pious followers would ensure that such an honour would be reserved for the most sacred of names.
Instead, nobody can be bothered. Caesar and Augustus will live on as Christianity dies (nice try Domitian and Commodus).
>Being named after references to time itself is one of the highest honours possible
No it isn't. You're just making things up
>begets functioning societies
muslims btfo??!
Congratulations at turning them into shitholes
Saint Paul said that those rules applied only until the resurrection and from then on out it's a brand new thing.
Because it's good
The Pauline group, which was from former Gentiles. This is all set out in the epistles of the Apostle Paul, groups of Christians from the israelites observed kashrut.
>Jesus himself said ''I come not to abrogate the covenant but to fulfil it''.
So he fulfilled the covenant and since then (resurrection) it does not make sense. You can find evidence for anything in the Bible.
>Why did a small religion change it’s rules to be easier for foreigners to embrace?
Epistle of Barnabas
