        >I would say shia vs suuni is more like catholics vs orthodox
Historically, that would seem right, because it's an early schism. However, theologically it seems more like Catholicism vs Protestanism. For Shias there's this central figure of authority that is nigh infallible, much like a Pope, who inherits this authority. Sunni is more Protestant in the sence of self-determination and institutional. Also, I would like to segue that there's no way for ot to be one to one since they're different things that deviated along different paths, that were influenced by more than just theology, but politics, economy, science, technology, etc.

          >that were influenced by more than just theology, but politics, economy, science, technology, etc.
Obviously the east-west schism and the reformation were based in politics first and everything else second. It's not like the protestants just decided to be different because they had different ideas, the nobles in some places just didn't want to be the pope's subjects any longer.

The Sunni-Shia split is more akin to Catholicism and Orthodoxy. There are no "Quran only" sects of Islam.

Salafism is the Islamic equivalent of Protestantism, even down to the Sola Scriptura.

Wahhabism proper is like the Anglican Church with its motto "Protestant yet Catholic"; just replace that with 'Salafi yet Hanbali'.

        >Salafism and Wahhabism are the same thing.
Wahhabi is a pejorative term. Almost nobody uses that to refer to themselves. They either call themselves Salafi explicitly, or they schizo LARP between Hanbali and Salafi (or something similar). Saudi Arabia officially claims to be Hanbali because that's what they originally were.

People use the Wahhabi label loosely to refer to anybody they don't like. Many incorrectly call Deobandis "Wahhabi" even though they're not and are Sufi. Some pajeets even call Turkey "Wahhabi" which is another level of cringe.

because the qur'an is extremely useless and you can't practice islam only relying on it. allah didn't even specify how to pray in the qur'an.

the sunnah is a necessity because allah is a moron.

Technically quranism, but practically salafism is closest to protestantism.

      >Shia islam. Iran is the Germany of the Middle east
shia islam is literally catholicism lite

Shia clergy is structurally more similar to Orthodoxy than Catholicism, as there is not a single pope-like figure, and I would know since I'm Shia.

Interestingly, Shia and Orthodox christians tend to get along very well.

Islam is divided between the Sunnis and the Shia, including other sects like the Dervishes, Salafism, and others...

      Anonymous

      >Dervishes
That's not explicitly a sect, though there are distinct sects based on it. Just like most Sufism in general aren't their own sects, but there are Sufi orders that are their own sects.

We can make fun of protestant ideas but the base of protestantism is for everyone to interpret religion as they want acording to holly text. Islam is based on conformity and obedience (because its an obvious scam by one man)
In kooran Muhammed said to muslims always join the biggest group of muslims matter if they are right. Islam is also based on scholar worshiping and keeping majoroty of population illiterate, you can see huge number of literate poeple even in superpowers like Otoman empire.

So in short islam will never let you interpret kooran as you like like protestants interpret the bible.

      >In kooran Muhammed said to muslims always join the biggest group of muslims matter if they are right.
There's always been rival schools and sects in Islam across all topics of contention.

      >Islam is also based on scholar worshiping and keeping majoroty of population illiterate
No. Islam specifically encourages people to learn to read. The first verse and word revealed to the Prophet was literally "Read". A slave who teaches others to read is to be freed because of said service.

      >you can see huge number of literate poeple even in superpowers like Otoman empire.
What the Ottoman dynasty did, was not legalize the printing press for Muslim use between the 1500s and early 1700s. Care to share what the literacy numbers were across the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic states in Northeast Europe? Only the Protestant world initially prioritized literacy, because of Sola Scriptura, and then it rubbed off on the Catholic populations they specifically ruled or were culturally very close to.

Guys, none of these sections you sent on this thread can be related to protestantism. All advocate for the same thing: ultimate puritanism of the law, xaria, and support (even if hidden) for jihad.
Protestantism would be something like: women can have rights, and jihad is evil.
