Muhammad and Ali are invoked far more than any other early islamic figure. The latter was used by various shia and sufi groups. Like when is Aisha brought up except in muhammad pedo debates or when shia call her a prostitute?
I hate how I am always torn between asking this on either Oyish or Oyish, but this thread makes my question on topic: What are some good books for early Sunni and for early Shia History? I'd imagine that for Shia, it's a book about the Twelvers, but what about the Sunni?
Twelver Shiism: Unity and Diversity in the Life of Islam, 632 to 1722
Agents of the Hidden Imam
Forging Twelver Shi‘ism, 850-950 CE
The Origins and Early Development of Shi'a Islam
How Did the Early Shi'a become Sectarian? Marshall Hodgson
Succession to Muhammad Wilferd Madelung
Yabubi and Masudi were classical islam historians who were shia
Kitab al-Irshad biography of the twelve imams by shia theologian in the buyid era
Those generals had no choice but to have Khalid lead. Where it not for him the byzantines would've conquered the Arab peninsula and cleansed it of all opposition.

How many Sufi orders are there?
