Even Jesus drank wine and pipe smoking is not as bad as cigarettes.
>pipe smoking is not as bad as cigarettes.
why?
Pipe tobacco is of better quality - not containing the various treatment and padding chemicals found in cigarettes which are the true damaging factors in smoking.
Pipe smoke is only drawn into the mouth as well, limiting the amount of nicotine absorbed and making the process a much longer and thus rarer event.
I don't smoke a pipe myself, however I've seen my friends and others describe it as quite a meditative process.

anything the bullies at school did, that he totally never wished he could join in on. totally. never. not even once. those grapes were sour, and not at all ripe.
holy fricking projection dude
please explain your logic. how does that show any signs of projection? You can't just angrily yell "projection!" when you get called out, projection has clear indications.
Interesting. What about the smell? Is it as bad as in cigarettes?
I smoke pipe tobacco every day. The smell is similar to cigar tobacco. It sticks to furniture, but will air out in a day or two, unlike cigarettes. Pipe tobacco is the best way to smoke, you have complete control over the smoke and it is the most tasteful way to smoke tobacco imo.
Cigar smoke is fairly acrid, and cigarette smoke has this disgusting staleness to it, but pipe smoke (depending on the variety of tobacco smoked) generally smells earthy, like old leather or an old book but still has a distinct tobacco odour to it. Lots of non-smokers actually like the smell of pipe tobacco smoke. I have friends who don't mind if I smoke in their living room because they like the aroma afterwards, especially if they had a grandfather or older relative who used to smoke a pipe.
Depends on the type and blend of tobacco.
anon here
is correct for most blends
You can get aromatic blends which can smell like vanilla, chocolate, etc. I think I even saw a cherry one once.
These smell like normal tobacco with overtones of whichever spice/ flavour has been blended in
you don't inhale
It can still cause oesophageal and oral cancers but most pipe smokers smoke so infrequently that their exposure more limited than cigarette smokers. Still bad for you, but more on the level of living in a house with an unenclosed fireplace or eating a lot of foods containing nitrates etc. than chain smoking cigarettes or regularly drinking alcohol.
Tolkien literally never stopped smoking not even for lectures not even for speaking during lectures
Prove it. Even the relation between smoking cigarettes and lung cancer is dubious.
>[...] pipe smoking is not as bad as cigarettes.
Smoking breeds sickness; why smoke —anything— when the air, and the fruits, are so sweet?
The sky is what the smell of its air looks like; the air is what the taste of its sky smells like.
>Even Jesus drank wine
You're not Jesus and lack the fortitude of spirit to speak openly about how you liken yourself to Christ. Being capable of rejecting worldly pleasures is always the first step you should take.
>Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.
Everybody drank watered down wine back then. It was the only alternative to just plain water (which by itself usually wasn't pure, wine helping remedy that). It wasn't like drinki9ng wine nowadays, where it's an exclusive pleasure.
then how was it that in the wedding at Cana the master of the feast remarks that they brought out the good wine last, contrary to the ordinary custom of bringing out good wine first and shifting to bad wine once everybody's too drunk to really notice?
During a wedding you wouldn't be drinking watered-down wine, obviously.
But it's a celebration, it's not for personal pleasure only. It's to share and wallow in the happiness of the occasion. Drinking wine with the bride and the groom is an act of love.
Yes. Christians are degenrates. That's not really a secret
>t. pederast arab belligerent
>that part in ROTK where Saruman takes up three paragraphs describing the different varieties of pipe-weed.
I found it funny that his entire fortress was destroyed but he was mostly mad about the hobbits stealing his pipe weed
>You shouldn't smoke your pipe - the Bible
lmao there's nothing wrong with that, morons.
Simple as
And the pie apparently. What a fat moron
Chesterton knew about how big he was and thought it was hilarious. That's not much of an "own"
>Why, he's great!

Interpunction matters
There's an ordained priest telling you that smoking cigars is ok on israelitetube.
And iirc didn't Jesus get scolded for drinking too much wine?
uh... Jesus *literally* turned water into wine, per the Bible. There's no conflict between alcohol and Christianity. It's very Dionysian/Saturnian in ideology.
Where is smoking forbidden in Christianity? Where is drinking forbidden? Drunkenness, yes, but drinking, no.
leave it to a fricking muttshart to equate all of christianity to all the heretic denominations of puritan protestantism
just nuke amerigga already
I have always wondered how Protestants square the ban on alcohol some of their denominations have with the clear presence of wine in the Bible.
>I have always wondered how Protestants square the ban on alcohol some of their denominations have with the clear presence of wine in the Bible.
sola scriptura is a wonderful thing isn't it
Ephesians 5:18
ancient wine was watered down and made you less drunken.
So the sun is drunkenness and not drinking? Just like the Catholics preach?
Post your favorite pipe Oyish

UNLIKE HERETICS, CHRISTIANS —ID EST: CATHOLICS— DO NOT REGARD VENIAL VICES, LIKE SMOKING, AS SINFUL, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT SCHIZOPATHIC JUDAIZERS.
SOME ALCOHOLIC DRINKS, ESPECIALLY WINE, ARE HEALTHY; WHAT DO YOU THINK WE DRINK AT MASS?
>addictions are good
The absolute state of catholicucks
>DRINKING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ENTAILS THAT YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC.
OK, JUDAIZER.
Smoking is addictive moron
AND?
WHEN/WHERE DID I STATE THAT ADDICTIONS ARE GOOD?
LEARN HOW TO READ.
You said smoking is not sinful. Then addictions are not sinful. Whatever is not sinful is fine. If your religion doesn't discourage addictions which are objectively bad, then your religion is garbage.
>Whatever is not sinful is fine.
NO; NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS BAD IS SINFUL.
>If your religion[...]
CATHOLICISM IS THE ONLY RELIGION; ALL OTHERS ARE PAGANISTIC —DEMONISTIC— CULTS, OR HERETICAL SECTS.
>NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS BAD IS SINFUL.
... why not? If it's bad it should be sinful. What's the point of having bad things that are not sinful?
>... why not?
VIRTUES, AND VICES, ARE ABSOLUTE IN QUALITY; GRADATIONAL & CASUISTICAL IN ACTUALITY —EXEMPLI GRATIA: VIOLENCE IS ABSOLUTELY BAD, BUT TO COMBAT VIOLENCE, AND TO ESTABLISH ORDER, COUNTERVIOLENCE IS NECESSARY.
«ViRTueS = GooD = GRaCe; ViCeS = BaD = SiN» IS AN IRRATIONAL, MORONIC MODE OF LIVING THAT DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO REALITY, WHICH IS WHY SCHIZOPATHY IS SO RAMPANT AMONGST HERETICS —VIDELICET: «PROTESTANTS», AND ISLAMISTS.
>If it's bad it should be sinful.
NOT NECESSARILY.
>What's the point of having bad things that are not sinful?
SOMETHING HAVING A «POINT» ENTAILS INTENTIONALITY; NOT EVERYTHING BAD BEING SINFUL IS A NATURAL FACT, NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS DECIDED & CODIFIED.
What are you talking about? Vices are not sinful because there's a "gradation"? You think being addicted to earthly things like tobacco is not against God's will because there's some gradation? This is delusional. Your religion is a meme.
LEARN HOW TO READ.
Sinful = Against God's will
Bad = Against God's will
Sinful = Bad
Anything else is cope and literally heresy on all counts
>Bad = Against God's will
You made this up. You have your your own standard of what's bad.
You're obviously unfamiliar with Christianity so why post anything at all? At least the other moron pretends to understand Christianity, but he always reverts to his meme fundamentalism because he's too stupid to form coherent thoughts.
Nothing in Christianity says smoking is sinful.
>If it's bad it should be sinful.
???
Try writing a coherent sentence dipshit.
I'm asking you what you meant with that moronic thing you said.
Based tripgay outschizoing the soulless morons tying their parody of Christianity to hygienist madness about demon rhum.
newbies get annoyed at how abrasive REI is, but older posters know that he's one of the few good trips this board has ever seen. he's operating from a strict autistic locus so he's always hyper consistent in his spergery.
You ask, "Are there canons that speak to the issues of ... tobacco?" I would ask you, where are the Canons that forbid use of marijuana or snorting cocaine or downloading pornography from the Internet? Obviously, there are none. Does this mean that your innate Orthodox common sense should not be enough to guide you to recognize what is healthy and what is not? The Canons should not be considered a compendium of answers to all possible questions. God gave us a mind and a conscience and we should use them to determine what is right and what is wrong, whether or not the particular yes issue has been addressed in the canons or not.
Smoking tobacco is a disgusting, filthy, addictive habit that turns the mouth of the smoker into an ashtray. It not only poisons the body of the smoker but pollutes the air that others around the smoker breathe. It is absolutely incompatible with the dignity of the Orthodox Priesthood, diaconate, or monastic state, whether the Canons specifically address it or not.
Smoking tobacco elevates the mind and directs it toward intellectual pursuits. Show me a nonsmoker and I'll show you a coomer.
t. early 20s
Keep it up for another decade. Let me know how you feel then.
There's nothing wrong with alcohol and tobacco use.
As someone who smoked for a decade I'm glad I gave it up. Wine seems alright though.
>There's nothing wrong with alcohol
Dulls the mind and increases cancer risk more than anything else.
>and tobacco use.
Tobacco stimulates the mind. Apples and oranges.
