Why did they do this?
Where did they get the gold when they were literally slaves not to long ago?
Is the gold symbolic or translated wrong?

I watched a rabbi talk about this, I don't know if it's mentioned in the old testament but he said there were Egyptian elites who went with the Israelites into the desert and they did this through sorcery, I mean it's hardly possible to get a golden calf just by throwing gold into a fire without magic. So they did that to introduce paganism into Israelite religion and rule the Israelites according to the rabbi.

Cool story but Israelites were never slaves under Egyptian rule there is zero historical evidence

Some things are mythical but others are history. That's easy to differentiate if someone is true to reality. But you hate religion and want to spiritually kill humanity, you want to make people believe we come from shape shifting apes and earth is eight billion years old. We don't know how we were created or the universe.

Can you prove evolution? No. There is no proof. Impossible task. I don't even need any proof because I have researched it myself. There are no missing links. There is no proof the universe itself can produce life. These are theories based on the belief that everything is matter. I know God exists, and that he created us. We cannot know how, or when. Impossible.

How do you make the distinction and how are you criticizing the death of spirituality when you're literally admitting aspects of the Bible are false? You're not even religious, you're just having identity crisis because the culture war has fried your brain.

            Anonymous

Spirituality and religion are two separate things. You can have healthy spirituality without any religion. Well the distinction is if it's before recorded history, if it is obviously not real, how can the earth be flat, how can there be waters above the earth, Moses' baby story being an exact copy of Sargon of akkad or whoever it was, then it's mythical while stories that are obviously real like the flight from egypt, or king David or king Solomon or the prophets are real while some elements might be made up to make the story better.

Well I am indeed sort of a deist but I'm not afraid of hat memes. I fear the idea of seeing myself become an agnostic much, not atheist. Atheism is fine as long as one believes in the spiritual. That is too big, I mean small details like the worm that chewed the tree on which the prophet Jonah slept. But yeah I'm a sort of deist, I believe God exists, and I worship him.

Intuition. That would be counter-intuitive and therefore I know it's untrue. Modern Agnostics and atheists doubt the intuition, they think humans have no such thing really, but that is the highest form of wickedness and degeneracy. Total spiritual blindness. You can be an atheist and trust in your intuition, like atheists in the third world, it's very subtle but you can notice when someone doesn't have any intuitive grasp. The west has this sickness the most by far. I believe hell is a fit destination for someone with such a worldview to be honest.

I believe the mind is supernatural thanks to my intuition. The intuition itself is not supernatural. But the mind is and therefore it can intuitively know many things about the universe. That's what I believe.

            Anonymous

Well the issue is I don't believe everything in the bible but the bible is also apart from a myth book also a historical account. And I'm mad people just ignore that book and think it's 100% fiction even obviously true accounts. By intuition you can discern but if you have no intuitive grasp you will be blind and that's making me mad that people don't trust in intuition.

    >slaves
This is such a politically charged word that immediately conjours an image of a white plantation owner whipping black African slaves as they pick cotton while dressed in rags. Slaves for the majority of human history were also known as servants. They performed the lowest jobs but they could still own property, wealth, get married, have children and even buy their freedom.

The gold came from earrings, bracelets, rings, etc. It specifically states this in Exodus.

    >Then he (Samiri) moulded for them an image of a calf that made a lowing sound. They said, “This is your god and Moses' god, but he has forgotten.

Because the israelites were not historically monotheist. They were not monotheist pre-moses. The old testament simply revised history to make it look like Moses was simply continuing the tradition and the israelites were departing from it. They didn’t revert to golden cow worship, Moses converted them to yahweh worship.

Aaron was a dick and knew he wouldn’t get punished because he was Moses’ brother. Also blah blah lack of faith.

Bible said they melted down israeliteelry. Really they weren’t slaves in the sense of Africans in the south more like lower castes in India or something.

The golden calf was a representation of their god. The story's not about randomly reverting to polytheism, but about worshiping the same god in the wrong way.
