Why is it always people go from believing in god to believing in Science (atheism) but never the other way around?

Why is it always people go from believing in god to believing in Science (atheism) but never the other way around?

How come once your an atheist through Logic and Reason you can never go back to believing in god?

You mean RIchard Dawkins Atheist or "hurr durr I drank a lot and gave no fricks" Atheist?

        In my case

It happens the other way all the time. It just doesn't get any publicity and the people who do it are quickly unpersoned from their atheist community to prevent a chain reaction.

        Same.

I thought Dawkins was a weak atheist (even though I did buy The God Delusion - first print!) because he wasted time trying to critique religions.
IMO (at the time) God was like Santa Claus, except no one ever broke that news to believers while they were young enough to easily stop believing.

I know a few who have gone the other way. The other half got his though is that in my experience the vast majority of people who leave religion of any kind don’t do it became of logic and reason, but it because they indulge in some prohibited vice and want to escape the guilt that causes them.

are you saying that bad people look for ways to salve their guilt and they use religion as a means to feel better about their misdeeds? I'm shocked!

I totally understand fearing god if god were real. It would make the most sense. Only a full blown moron would "reject" God while believing in its existence.

    >believing in Science (atheism)
    You are confused.
Modern day religion of Scientism isn't science.
You really don't "believe in science". The difference between religion and science that in science you CAN TEST your hypothesis 1000 different times, and if comes up true you hyposesis is correct.

Atheism is denying that some type of god or divine exists.

Science killed god pretty much. Even christians admit it. That's why they want to ban evolution.

I went from being raised atheist to paganism because I had a sincere religious experience. I keep it to myself as I work in a science field (biology) but historically many scientists were Christians, or further back believed in the pagan gods of their time. The notion of religion and science being opposed is a pop culture myth.

        christians typically have zero integrity
just look at /misc/ for examples, lying false accusation and revilement are their most favored approaches to opposition

There is a corny quote that science first drives you away from god and then as you get deeeper into it, closer. I’m on this path currently agnostic probably eill end up believing in god but I will not join a religion I want to be in a mystic tradition for the initiated.

Putting faith in institutions (science) is the same as religion. We’re always making discoveries that contradict what we considered irrefutable “truth” before. Also science does not disprove God.

At least 1/4 of people I meet at Church are converts from atheism.
When your worldview revolves around everything coming nothing at all, it’s only the perpetual seething that keeps you atheist.
The idea that God can’t exist when evil exists is false. Evil is only an absence of order and the twisting of something intended for good.
Every self interested and twisted choice someone makes starts with a disordered good intention.
