Why do Christians tolerate alcohol consumption?

>And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.
>Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
>Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

Drunkenness has always been a sin. Responsible alcohol consumption is ok.

    >Noah plants vines and makes wine
    >Jesus' first miracle is to turn water into wine

What did they mean by this?

Jesus turned water into wine as if to say
      >so what your Dionysius can turn water into wine? our guy can do that too and more!
you’re an idiot if you think this isn’t why this was included in the narrative

You're arguing that the New Testament was.
          Which it wasn't
Wine was an extremely important symbol in the Old Testament and for basically all Near Eastern civilizations.
If Jesus was a constructed character, he was very clearly constructed to perfectly the fit the prophesied messiah of the Old Testament rather than Dionysius.
Considering that the Torah is obsessed with both blood sacrifice and wine oblations, Jesus' blood/wine symbolism cannot be declared to be "Dionysian" in origin, when an easier explanation is to fit within israeli sacrificial customs.

You do know that one can consume alcohol without becoming drunk right ?

    It's called drinking in moderation

      >>And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess
      Nothing wrong with moderate consumption

      >Don’t worry, I’m just moderately killing this man
      >Don’t worry, I’m just moderately committing adultery

Question: have you ever had a single glass of alcohol?
        I did not until I was 21.
A grown adult man is still sober after having a single serving of an alcoholic beverage.
Drunkards choose to continue drinking and to get drunk.
Secondly, "wine" was often mixed with water in the ancient world. Lowering its alcohol content significantly.

As with lots of things this has varied by denomination. Baptists, Methodists, and conservative Presbyterians generally avoid alcohol, while Lutherans and moderate Presbyterians tend to be okay with it in moderation.

Generally the more conservative the denomination the more apprehensive they will be about drinking alcohol, unless it's Lutheran (Luther famously joked that beer was good because it made us sleepy which prevented us from committing sin)
