Idk about Orthodoxy but in Catholicism to be officially declared a saint one needs to either die a martyr or have 2 confirmed and proven miracles happen due to your intercession.

Yeah why isn't the miracle requirement ever something like a regrown limb, dead barren land all the sudden becoming fertile soil, or someone completely blind seeing or something in the modern day? Someone getting over a sickness that isn't 99.999% fatal is not a miracle that's just a recovery. Abrahamic requirements for miracles is rather low.

Of what I remember from what I read I haven't seen that in either the Bible or even the Quran. The most crazy miracles and divine acts I read in the Bible never happen in the modern day, there has been some claims but never provided evidence. Some of those televangelists have had people admit later that they were paid to act like they were sick and were healed so those miracles are probably always fake.

American Evangelicals are especially silly in what they consider "miracles" at a very low bar. Front row empty seat or empty parking slot near a store to many of them is considered an act of God.

            >Curiosly this never happens; not even in the bible I think
what's even better is that christians don't even pray for it, as if they knew only natural recovery and the occasional psychosomatic healing are likely to happen.

Against many odds is one thing but if it would be statistically impossible is another. I never heard of anyone ever coming back from true death, cardiac arrest yes with some brain activity left but completely brain dead people rising from the dead in the modern day no.

why did god stop doing magic stuff after the bible ended

      Cute pic, OP.
To answer your question from an Orthodox perspective, miracles happen to point to a deeper reality. If you look at the Savior’s miracles in comparison with those of the OT, they are pretty lame. And if you read the Gospels, He is, more often than not, asked by somebody. He doesn't perform them to attract followers, but to point His followers towards a new reality. The israelites of the OT, despite the many miracles that take place before their own eyes, quickly turn to other gods.

He did not. He regularly invites people to the magical land called the afterlife. That is, NDEs. And NDEs are irrefutable proof of life after death, because anyone can have them if they come close to and survive death. And they are so undeniably real to those who have them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U00ibBGZp7o

As this NDEr described their NDE:

    >"I saw how life never ends. I remembered the process of reincarnation is endless, wonderful and truly eternal. I witnessed my own spiritual evolution and saw that I had existed long before this present incarnation (where I am now a male human). For me, watching the process of living life, after life, after life unfold, was mind-blowing! I undeniably observed that I had lived an innumerable amount of lives. My NDE clearly showed me that these bodies (we now inhabit) are not the first and only time we have existed! I saw that our soul and spirit is ancient! I also observed that there is no such thing as death."

And importantly, even dogmatic skeptics have this reaction, because the NDE convinces everyone. So anyone would be convinced if they had an NDE, we already know this, no one's skepticism is unique. And the book in pic related is known to convince even hardened skeptics that there is an afterlife.

    >muh brain chemistry

Neuroscientists are convinced by NDEs too. What do skeptics think they understand that neuroscientists do not?

    >muh DMT causes it

Scientifically refuted already, and NDErs who have done DMT too say that the DMT experience, while alien and really cool and fun, was still underwhelming to the point of being a joke when compared to the NDE.

Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family.” And because of their unbelief, he couldn't do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them.
    Mark 6

Because God does miracles according to a person's faith and belief. Or according to the faith and belief of the possible witnesses. God doesn't reward disbelief or lack of faith. It's not that God can't, it's that he won't, he chooses not to flex his power for people who don't believe. When Simon Peter was walking on water with Jesus he only stood on water for a brief moment before the doubts started to set in, and when they did that was when god retracted his power and let Simon Peter sink. We live in the age of the internet where a lot of the world don't believe in god at all, and even the believers have weak faith like Peter. The world as a whole lacks faith and belief so god won't reward the world's lack of faith and.disbelief with miracles. Also,

And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust.
    Mormon 9:20

You should all read the book of Mormon. It is the true inspired word god, authored by god.

For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.
    Ether 12:12

15 Behold, it was the faith of Ammon and his brethren which wrought so great a miracle among the Lamanites. 16 Yea, and even all they who wrought miracles wrought them by faith, even those who were before Christ and also those who were after.
    Ether 12:15-16

18 And neither at any time hath any wrought miracles until after their faith; wherefore they first believed in the Son of God.
    Ether 12:18

There's several passages about miracles in the book of Mormon but this comment is already too long

  15. 4 months ago

Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain.
    Moroni 7:37

And now it came to pass that according to our record, and we know our record to be true, for behold, it was a just man who did keep the record—for he truly did many miracles in the name of Jesus; and there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity
    3 Nephi 8:1

Another condition for miracles is that they need to be cleansed of every iniquity, they need to learn and understand and follow God's word to the point that they are doing well enough that God sees it merited that they should receive a miracle from him. He doesn't give miracles to the sinful the unrepentant or the faithless. So repent and believe and receive.
