Why did atheism become popular in

It pretty much is a settled fact at this point that atheism is objectively wrong. However, where does the relatively recent popularity of this belief come from? Back then, the vast majority of scientists, philisophers (and intellectuals, in general) agreed that atheism wasn't even worth giving consideration to.

However, since the rise of the Internet and social media, a lot of average and unintelligent people started supporting the belief of atheism, without providing any convincing arguments to justify their position. Arguments like: "if god good why bad things", or "if many religions god no exist" are commonplace in Internet atheist spaces.

This belief clearly does not originate from a place of knowledge or intellectualism. Is atheism just a desperate attempt to justify hedonistic tendencies? Discuss.

Newton came before things like the theory of evolution or understanding of the age of the Earth.
Today it's just easier to come across information showing that the universe doesn't show any evidence of an intervening God.

People want to sin, so they adopt atheism to pretend there are no consequences.

This is such an infantile way to look at things. Plenty of atheists that don't want to "sin".

You might as well tell me I don’t believe in Santa because I don’t want to get coal in my stocking. It’s that ridiculous to someone who doesn’t already believe in what you do.

It's the dunning kruger effect at a mass scale. We found out religion was wrong about the timeline of the universe so we figured it was wrong about spirituality as a whole.

This is because the media is controlled by deep state forces. Atheism was a psyop designed by tavistock think-tank.
It only gained popularity because it was promoted on reddit, the youtube algorythmn and the lugenpresse.

The same reason veganism became popular, upper class morons in a time without radio or television sitting around gabbing and smelling their own farts creating a feedback loop of moronation

but pretty sure israelites were the first atheists because they didn't want to conform to israeli law so they acted up
