In the Silmarillion there's a theology conversation between a Wise Women, Andreth, and an Elf Lord, Finrod. Andreth talks about the 'Secret Hope' of mankind about how God will come down to earth himself to finally heal the damage done partly by Melkor, partly by mankind who were corrupted by him.
It goes on and on but it's basically just straight Catholic theology.

I thought Journey to the West was a Taoist fantasy, no?

The prologue ends with Gautama Buddha demonstrating his superiority to Monkey, slamming a mountain on him, imprisoning him for 500 years, telling him to follow Sanzang (whose name means the scriptures of Buddhism) or stay imprisoned forever. The allegories aren't subtle in this book.

There are both buddhists and taoists, but the buddhists always defeat the taoists

It consists almost entirely of Buddhists shitting on Taoists and calling them stupid and weak

It's not at all subtle about it either. The whole adventure is showing LaoTzu acting like a moron

I think you mean Camelot for Christian fantasy, not something with elves and goblins and pagan gods.

Was there much religious influence in One Thousand and One Nights? Do we count anything by L Ron Hubbard?

Real Buddhists realize that fiction is unskillful anyways.

      >fiction is unskillful
according to the canonical suttas, Buddha had debates with Brahmā in pajeet heaven... is that non-fiction?

Did I think it happened? No. But that is definitely non-fiction. Fiction does not mean “it didn’t happen”. It’s a literary genre.

    >Journey to the West is a Buddhist fantasy
Journey to the West mocks Buddhism a lot. It was a social criticism of the contemporary Chinese society. Nevertheless, the author wrote it because he liked weird monsters.
