If you are capable of remorse and repentance then you have blasphemed against the Spirit. To do this you must have full understanding of God's truth and His love, and willfully turn away from it. One who would do this can not truly repent, and so cannot truly be forgiven. Satan did this, and presumably Judas as well. Possibly others, but it's a very short list

Weren't Esau and Judas remorseful? I have no dog in this fight as a nonbeliever but I seem to recall people in the Bible for whom remorse was not a saving grace.

    >realize I was born in a culture outside of the sphere of Christianity
    >don't have to neurotically obsess over some hebrew spirit raping my mind and policing my behavior to make sure it falls in line with some race and culture's rules that I don't belong to

As I understand it, this was a specific ruling on a specific issue. The people he was talking about had seen the miracles and called it magic. They knew and said so anyway. That was what was unforgiveable.

You cannot blaspheme the Holy Spirit unless you are actually knowledgable of his existence. That's the whole point. Arguably its very hard to do even then. Pic related.
