If you believe the Calvinists, then God is an eldritch creature who’s totally amoral and all actions are by his design and justified because he says so.

i do believe in God from the bible to an extent, but it must lean somewhere twords this eventuality than simply an all loving, kind God

However your brother died, it's explainable by natural phenomena. "God" didn't do shit.

Sorry to hear that man. My friend killed himself earlier this year and I thought the same thing: Why did God let this happen? But its just life man, I don't think God has anything to do with it. A chain of events happens that you can't really avoid or foresee. Sure you can predict certain things but you don't always have that luxury, we just have to accept what happens and roll with the punches. Acceptance is a powerful thing man. Your brother would be really proud to see how much you've grown.

Well it depends, how did he die?
If he died by someone else's mistake - then he died because for other people's actions to have real consequences and matter, they must have severe consequences that innocents feel as well.
If it was by his own hand, then it was probably internal demons or literal demons even
If it was by sickness, then God made illnesses so that brave doctors and medical researchers could do good by curing them. We could not be good if there was not evil in the world to help alleviate or remove.
And illnesses, historically, have kept our populations from expanding beyond our capacity to feed people. By having illness, early man never had to make the call of letting the old die to have more food for the young. Thus our love of life and reverence for each life was maintained.

In Christianity, death is not a problem for the dying. They get to heaven. And for the still living it makes people, hopefully, more strong and compassionate and respect life more.

I am terribly sorry for the loss of your brother. I pray he rests in peace.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 Shit happens. Not God's fault or even the Devil's. Shit happens.

he got cancer and lost one of his legs at 17 and basically lived in suffering for 6 years until it went to his heart and killed him
why would a just God do that to someone

He got unlucky, he fought hard for 6 years and died honorably. He could have quit during that period and succumbed to the suffering but he kept going until he couldn't anymore. Honor his memory and don't worry about God. God had nothing to do with it.

Well the thing about the idea of the Christian God is, it's not so dissimilar to like a Lovecraftian eldritch deity.
This is a being we have no hope in ever comprehending by the sheer difference in scale between us and them.

Perhaps God is all loving and just, but his justice factors in things we do not understand. That to us, feel cruel.

What makes you think God did that? For example, how do you know it wasn't a demon instead? Or purely natural causes? Or environmental pollutants? Or genetics?

What God miraculously formed a tumor? If it was by natural causes, it could have been avoided or not avoided. If it couldn't have been avoided, why complain? If it could have been avoided, why not avoid it? It seens the actual complaint is that God not intervene to provide a miraculous cure, which betrays a misunderstanding of the nature of miracles. If the argument is that God is "evil" for allowing a misfortune to happen, then you are conflating a natural disaster with a moral evil.
