I'm not convinced that "Heaven" is better than just being dead. In fact it seems way worse in all honesty. I don't think I want to be stuck living eternally with no way of escape. It would get awfully boring after trillions of years. Christians assert that it wont be like that because "heaven is timeless" but...isn't just being dead also timeless by the same logic? Like in that context, heaven is just being dead but with extra steps. "The Afterlife" just doesn't make any sense to me and when you put any kind of thought into it, it just plain sounds worse than being dead.

Christians believe death is like sleep until you awaken on judgement day during the resurrection.

Anyone who thinks your "soul" goes up into the clouds among winged baby "angels" to watch from above for all eternity is a pagan larping as a Christian.

      What happens after Judgement Day?

You get resurrected. The eternal soul heresy is pagan in nature and only got popular around the time of the enlightenment because deists and atheists thought resurrection was dumb, and the lay Christian never really believed in the bible.

I would be more comfortable with resurrection than I would be with heaven. I always assumed that was more of a Buddhist thing though

We're talking about resurrection, not reincarnation. The way Jesus came back from the dead, as himself. You die, you sleep until judgement day, you wake up along with everyone else who ever lived and are judged.

Yes. Surely your fringe sect is the one true one.

Have you actually read the bible?

I'd rather be reincarnated than resurrected. No man is capable of truly living forever

It's not about what you want though, it's about what God wants.

            And suffer hell, possibly.

why would god want anything? 'want' is experienced when desiring a certain state of affairs but not having it realized.

Yes, I have read the Bible. Front to cover and even several different versions, apocrypha, and so on. What sect are you in? Or are you literally a meme non-denom like I said?

you think centuries-old mainstream churches you disagree with haven't?

A fair number of mainstream churches to believe in the resurrection of the flesh if you study their actual theology rather than what the layperson or laypreacher believes. This isn't some weird heterodox theology, it's just not what the lay Christian believes because the lay Christian is really pagan in nature.

Sometimes I seriously doubt whether the christians on this board are even sentient.
