    >For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the Goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the Goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the God of the Moabites, and Milcom the God of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great Goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth. And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great Goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter? For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your Goddess.

Find a pantheon that fits with your life or how you wish to live and follow it with all of your heart and soul. Also don’t be a gay about it.

Need one pick one particular one? Religious syncretism was common in the ancient world.

It’s good to have one as a base for the sake of stability, and add in others after.

Makes a certain amount of sense I suppose.

            >Find god you feel some connection with or that you want try to form a relation with
            >Prepare an altar
            >Start making prayers and offering (candles, incense pure water or other drinks libations, devotional acts...)

How do I know I'm not screwing it up in ways that are insulting to the deities in question?

They'll let you know. Realistically though unless you're a massive moron it's really hard to do this.

same, though "pray like a pagan" is honestly the best video on this. i was told he basically copied it from someone else's article which explains why it's so good

What ethnic group are you from?

My father's side of the family considers themselves primarily Irish in terms of ethnic identity, though they also have some English and Scottish ancestry, and one of my great-great-grandparents was Hungarian. My mum's side of the family is Australian, which means mostly British and Irish, with a German great-grandma or great-great-grandma in there somewhere. Or is that not what you're asking exactly?

Try focusing on Celtic or Germanic polytheism then. Careful though, there's a lot of crap about Celtic religion online, it was the main target for all the New Age/Wiccan bullshit after all. The Germanics are better off since they at least have the Poetic and Prose Eddas which, while being Scandinavian skewed, have a lot of useful mythological info. I'd also recommend doing research into Indo-European cultures, there's a lot we've learned about through comparative study.

I feel like religious pluralism and syncretism is the natural state of humanity unless expressly stamped out.

    From a buddhist sutta:

Then it occurred to me, ‘What if I were to perceive light and see forms; and associate with those deities, converse, and engage in discussion? Then my knowledge and vision would become even more purified.’

So after some time … I perceived light and saw visions. And I associated with those deities, conversed, and engaged in discussion. But I didn’t know which orders of gods those deities came from.

Then it occurred to me, ‘What if I were to perceive light and see forms; and associate with those deities, converse, and engage in discussion; and find out which orders of gods those deities come from? Then my knowledge and vision would become even more purified.’

So after some time … I perceived light and saw visions. And I associated with those deities … And I found out which orders of gods those deities came from. But I didn’t know what deeds caused those deities to be reborn there after passing away from here.

So after some time … I found out what deeds caused those deities to be reborn there after passing away from here. But I didn’t know what deeds caused those deities to have such food and such an experience of pleasure and pain.

So after some time … I found out what deeds caused those deities to have such food and such an experience of pleasure and pain. But I didn’t know that these deities have a life-span of such a length.

So after some time … I found out that these deities have a life-span of such a length. But I didn’t know whether or not I had previously lived together with those deities.
